Connacht Hospitality Group Partner with Galway Races Once Again

On Tuesday, March 14, the Galway Races City Business Lunch took place at the Ballybrit Racecourse, and the Connacht Hospitality Group (CHG) was represented by The Connacht Hotel at the get-together. As excitement builds ahead of the Galway Races Summer Festival, the CHG is announcing that they will be continuing their sponsorship of Monday’s feature race, The Connacht QR Handicap, for the 15th year – and for a second year will be the title sponsor of Thursday’s ‘Best Dressed’ competition.

The Galway Races

The Galway Races is one of the most popular events in the national social calendar, with tens of thousands of people regularly flocking from near and far to attend. So, it was only natural that they would choose the equally popular Connacht Hospitality Group as one of their key supporters.

Almost 120,000 people were welcomed through the turnstiles for the 2022 Galway Races, and if that is any indication, it’s shaping up to be yet another big year in 2023.

Connacht Hospitality Group’s Marketing and Innovation Manager Eveanna Ryan spoke about the continued partnership with the Galway Races:

“It’s fantastic to once again sponsor the phenomenal Galway Races Festival. We’re expecting plenty of thrills over the course of the seven days, and we’re looking forward to another fantastically fun few days in July and August.

“It’s a continued pleasure for the Group to work with the team at Galway Races which showcases so much, from phenomenal racing to incredible fashion. I’m also really looking forward to our feature race on the Monday of the festival, which The Connacht Hotel will sponsor. The easy part was sponsoring the Galway Races in the first place – the hard part will be waiting for all the excitement to start in four months’ time!” Eveanna said.

Group General Manager, Wayne Neilon also commented on their return as sponsors:

“The Connacht Hotel has been sponsoring the QR Handicap for 15 years – and it’s a continued honor to do so,” Wayne said.

“The QR Handicap showcases some of the finest rising stars in horse racing, and we’re delighted to put our name behind it – the race features those looking to make a name for themselves, something that our Group values – after all, it was founded by a trailblazing family who like to pioneer in brilliant ways,” Wayne added.

The Connacht Hospitality Group

The Connacht Hospitality Group is the group behind popular hotels like The Connacht Hotel, Residence Hotel, and HYDE Hotel, while they also own An Púcán, 1520, and HYDE Bar. The family-owned Group is run by the Fitzgerald family and company Director John Carmody, together with their great leadership team.

The Connacht Hospitality Group have been key sponsors of the Galway Races for a number of years, and 2023 sees the partnership continue as strongly as ever before.

This year, the Galway Races Summer Festival will take place from Monday July 31st to Sunday August 6th, and it’s already expected to be a fantastic week of pulsating horse-racing action.

With four months to go to the big event, it’s anticipated once again that the Galway Races will be an unmissable seven days of action, fashion, craic, and more.
