Galway Bay Golf Resort Clubhouse Putt Back on the Map

Earlier this year, the Galway Bay Golf Resort’s clubhouse underwent an amazing refurbishment, and their dedicated team is ready to welcome members and visitors – both existing and new – to experience the refreshed look and feel of the premises.

Eye-catching Changes

The clubhouse, which is located on the outskirts of Oranmore in Renville, overlooks the glorious Galway Bay as well as the fabulous 18-hole championship golf course.

Galway Bay Golf Resort’s team are welcoming people to enjoy a truly authentic Galway experience. The clubhouse has been modernised, updated, and fantastically improved, and everyone is sure to appreciate the contemporary and stylish upgrades.

The changes are eye-catching, to say the least, from the chic floral wallpaper to the uber-modern coffee dock, right through to the nods to Christy O’ Connor Jr., the late, great Knocknacarra golfer who originally designed this stunningly breath-taking course.

2 Iron Bar & Restaurant in Honor of Golfing Legend

In fact, the Galway Bay Golf Resort’s bar and restaurant has also been transformed into a truly impressive setting to enjoy delectable cuisine and beverages. Indeed, it has been named in honour of the Galway golfing legend’s historic shot – often hailed as one of the best in Ryder Cup folklore – which helped Europe retain the 1989 edition of the cup at The Belfry.

Now dubbed The 2 Iron Bar & Restaurant, the Galway Bay Golf Resort spot harks back to the particular golf club which O’ Connor Jr. used for his famous shot to the 18th hole almost 35 years ago, ultimately seeing him defeat the legendary Fred Couples in front of an incredulous crowd.

The 2 Iron Bar and Restaurant is ready to welcome visitors who’d like to sample the fine food and smooth beverages offered at this updated venue – an ideal way to finish off a day golfing at one of the most scenic golf courses on the West of Ireland.

Total Clubhouse Revamp

The Clubhouse’s Pro Shop has also received a phenomenal facelift which is sure to be appreciated by members and visitors alike. Updated to create a contemporary shopping experience (with a TV showing the latest golfing action), it is set to be stocked with all the latest and greatest golfing equipment. After all, the staff here are proponents of the wise words of O’ Connor Jr.’s uncle – Christy O’ Connor Sr. – who would often say, “If your clubs are not clean and your shoes are not clean, you’re not going to play good golf.”

Revamped changing rooms with ample locker space provide a clean and crisp setting for you to prepare for your round of golf – and when you’re ready to explore the rest of the clubhouse, you’ll discover that the second floor has more wonders to reveal.

Here, a dedicated events and function space takes centre stage, offering sweeping panoramas of the undulating golf course. The Bay View Suite is an elegant setting for all manner of private get-togethers and important events. After all, what could be better than marking a milestone with the sweeping views of fairways and manicured greens forming the backdrop?

Expertly improved, the clubhouse is the ideal place to unwind after a few rounds of golf on this headland course – and even if you don’t replicate O’ Connor Jr.’s famous two-iron shot from all those years ago, you can always raise a glass to the man himself in the 2 Iron Bar & Restaurant – not a bad consolation prize.
